WHEN YOU FINISH YOUR DEGREE AT TAI

  • You will have studied all music genres, from pop and improv to orchestral or electronic music.
  • You will have completed a portfolio with compositions for the audiovisual (short films, videogames, jingles, digital content, etc), performance (musical theatre) and exhibition (video art) fields.
  • You will be able to write, record and produce complex musical pieces.
  • You will be part of a community of artists from all artistic areas and disciplines with whom to develop cross-cutting , interdisciplinary projects.

Admission Requirements

To access the official undergraduate studies it is required to possess a certificate of secondary school graduate or an equivalent as well as having passed a test referred to in the article 42 of the Organic Law 6/2001, on Universities, modified by the Law 4/2007, of 12 April, without prejudice of the other access mechanisms provided by current regulations (RD 1640/1999, of 22 October, (BOE of 27 October 1999), modified and completed by the RD 990/2000, of 2 June (BOE of 3 June 2000) and by RD 1025/2002, of 4 October (BOE of 22 October 2002) and developed by the Order of 25 November 1999 (BOE of 30 November 1999).

For this Degree in Music Composition and in order to know the profile and abilities of the students, an interview is established together with a practical assessment:

  • Interview with attitude and musical language questions
  • Delivery of a sample of candidate’s own composition in score and audio

The interview will assess creative capacity, the quality of the works as well as artistic and musical vocation of the candidates.

Foreign students will be able to be interviewed through a videoconference.

Passing the test doesn´t imply automatic admission in the Degree in Music Composition. Admission of the students that got the qualification PASS will be decided according to the same selection criteria as in case of other undergraduate degrees.

  • Futuros compositores apasionados por la música, dotados de sensibilidad e imaginación, dispuestos a explorar los diferentes estilos contemporáneos, tanto en el ámbito musical como en el escénico y audiovisual.
  • Personas que quieren acreditar su formación con una titulación oficial, consolidando las bases para mejorar su empleabilidad profesional.

Language Requirements

Students that decide to study in English should previously achieve a level of fluency in English sufficient for studies, understanding teachers’ explanations, taking notes, searching additional information in sources written in English and carrying out written papers and exams in satisfactory way.

In the groups that study in English it is recommended to prove a B2 level of English, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, teaching, assessment.

• Level B2: Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
