Career path
Pilar del Puerto is an artist and researcher specializing in gender perspectives in the cultural industries. She is part of the InPAS research group at the Complutense University of Madrid. Her research explores affective interactions between humans and machines and the emerging visualities of artificial intelligence.
She has undertaken research stays at the University of Coimbra, at the University of Buenos Aires (within the framework of the project "Archive Policies and Digital Technopoetics" of the Gino Germani Research Institute) in collaboration with CONICET, and at the Laboratory of Gender and Sexuality Studies of the CNRS in Paris, where she was also a resident of the Colegio de España.
She has been a Predoctoral Research Fellow at the UCM and has been part of the curatorial team of Medialab Matadero and currently teaches at several universities in Madrid.
Her artistic practice, akin to conceptual art, explores the affective transformations between humans and machines, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence, ecology, and the construction of gender. She is represented by the Beatriz Pereira Gallery, and her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally—in Spain, Canada, Croatia, Italy, Turkey, and Japan—and is part of public and private collections. She is also the founder of the art collective XenoVisual Studies.
