Career path
Spanish-Lebanese film director and audiovisual artist.
His films have been supported by prestigious institutions such as the Sundance Documentary Institute, the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, the Screen Institute Beirut, Cine Qua Non Lab, Berlinale Talents, the Doha Film Institute or the Danish Film Institute.
His first feature film, Crayons of Askalan, premiered at Hot Docs, the largest Canadian international documentary festival in North America. the short film The night between Ali and me, co-directed with Nadia Hotait, was screened at La Casa Encendida and won the award for best experimental film at the Lebanese National Film Festival.
In addition, he is a scriptwriter for different international companies such as Cinépolis.
His artistic work has been presented internationally in exhibition spaces such as the Pompidou in Paris, the KIT Kunst-im-Tunnel Museum in Düsseldorf, La Casa Encendida in Madrid, the Arsenale in Venice, the Alicante Museum of Art and galleries in Mexico. , Lebanon, Singapore, Portugal and the United States, among other countries.
She is the author of the book on Lebanese cinema We will always have Beirut (Ediciones Akal). Together with her sister, Nadia Hotait, she founded LAAVENTURA Audiovisual Productions, a platform that brings together artists from around the world to collaborate on various projects.
