Career path
Sonia Abbas Rodríguez is the national distribution and materials coordinator at Deep Com Roots Agency, a film distributor and international sales agent. From 2016 to 2025, she was the national distribution director at Begin Again Films, a film distributor and international sales agent, and a writer and communications manager for the cultural magazine Más de Cultura.
Creator of the podcast “Mercaderes de la Cultura” (Culture Merchants), available on Spotify. In 2015, she founded the film radio program 16Novenos, which she directed for seven years. After working for various companies in the journalism and communications sector, including the newspaper El Mundo, RTVE, Onda Cero, Libertad FM, and Capital Radio, she has participated in diverse activities related to her work in distribution, such as presenting content for Begin Again Films at the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART 2023), Fresh from Our Sales Agents, with Talent! at the European Film Market 2021, and serving as a mentor at the Queer Cine Lab of the Triángulo Foundation and as a collaborating lecturer in the Executive Production Master's program at the Madrid Film and Audiovisual School (ECAM) and at the Makkers School in Madrid.
He currently teaches the subject of film distribution in the Cinematography Degree at the Madrid School of Arts (TAI) and coordinates the Online Master's in Audiovisual Distribution at the Madrid School of Arts (TAI).
