Create artistic proposals for audiovisual and scenic works

The Master in Film and TV Art Direction connects Filmmaking with Fine Arts and Interior Architecture applying the formulations of the audiovisual narrative to the different techniques of production design and space management.

Exercise artistic direction in its double dimension: designing and building sets and intervening spaces and locations. Complete your training through specific work with materials, textures and finishes of a diverse nature.

Broaden your professional horizons with two elective modules in Costume Design or Scenic Design.

Complete 80 hours of filming

Work 40 hours as creative leader or head of department + 40 hours as main assistant + other assistants.

Enhance your aesthetic sensibility

Get to know the different currents, movements and artistic movements throughout history, as well as the most daring and innovative contemporary proposals.

TAI-certified Filmmaking Masters train new professionals both artistically and technically, based on knowledge of what is happening in the audiovisual industry and on its margins.

A training that is committed to transversality, experimentation and a highly professionalizing methodology based on the concepts of workshop and portfolio:

    Deepening of the knowledge of the specialty.
    Intensive training of the different processes and modes of professional practice.

Student profile

Students with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, Architecture, Audiovisual Communication, Humanities, History, Art History or other related qualifications, from national or international universities.

Students with a Diploma and/or Bachelor's Degree in Filmmaking from TAI School of the Arts or other film schools.

Audiovisual professionals who want to immerse themselves in a new discipline.


  • Know the currents, genres, authors and reference titles of the history of cinema.
  • Being able to specify the phases, processes and professionals involved in an audiovisual production.
  • Identify the fundamental departments who participate in an audiovisual production.
  • Understand what it means teamwork and be part of a production that will generate an audiovisual and/or scenographic work.
  • Have drawing capabilities y basic knowledge of specific software to create and edit images.
  • Have aesthetic sensibility and curiosity about different currents and artistic movements.

The lack of knowledge of any of the following skills is not exclusive for access to this master. To carry out the academic orientation interview, students must present a link to previous work carried out.

Career Opportunities

Today, everything is audiovisual. We live immersed in the culture of communication and entertainment. The film and TV series industry is at its peak thanks to the new digital platforms (Netflix, Movistar, HBO, Amazon Prime, etc.) and an incessant demand for audiovisual content.

Within this context, Madrid is one of the main production centers at European level: in 2022, the capital hosted a total of 860 medium- and large-scale filming, including 66 television series, 47 fiction films and 380 advertisements. In addition, the emerging cinematographies throughout the country represent movements of great artistic interest that generate their own labor demand.
