«TRANSITS»: the work of the students TAI in the Fnac Callao window

The artists of the Degree in Fine Arts create a mural in the middle of Preciados Street in the center of Madrid.

TRANSITS
Along with the walks, the transits, the races, the meetings, the hugs, the Christmas shopping, the occasional kiss. A child who is lost. An elderly woman with a slow step who tries to escape the Madrid cold. The music that floods Preciados Street floating in the heating of the store, which engulfs everyone who passes through its doors. The invasive Christmas. People. The crowd. There, irreverently, the intervened window.
The fourth year students of Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts of University School of Arts TAI joins together to carry out an artistic proposal that arises from the FNAC to promote emerging talent and that materializes in the intervention of the shop windows of its headquarters in Callao by young Arts students. A project that has been led by important artists from the world of illustration and that is now in charge of the University School of Arts TAI, led by the teacher and artist Iván Cáceres.
An opportunity for the students of Visual Arts having a professional creative experience for a real brand of Fnac renown, in the center of Madrid and in the middle of the Christmas season, in which so many people will be able to see his artistic work on Preciados Street. The Fine Arts Degree is a comprehensive training in which, during its four years of study, Students move through all types of artistic languages, which range from the most traditional (drawing, painting, sculpture), to the most avant-garde and digital.
It is precisely in the fourth year when, thanks to the illustration workshop taught by the artist Ana Pez, Students practically investigate the possibilities that this discipline offers.

WORK PROCESS
From the commission of FNAC a group of Fine Arts students meets and, together with Iván Cáceres, they design a suggested sketch under the concept "TRANSITS."
For the sketch, the possibilities of artificial intelligence have also been investigated. Two different working groups worked on finding the final design through a back-and-forth process. coordinated by Iván Cáceres.

The work phases have been three:
During the first phase, the students designed different mural painting proposals for the cafeteria and one of the stairs of the University School of Arts. TAI (C/ Recoletos 22, 28001 Madrid), as part of the illustration workshop taught by the artist Ana Pez. These ideas served as a substrate for the subsequent spin-off that was the “Tránsitos” project.

In the second phase, the use of different artificial intelligence engines was used. (such as DALL·E 2 and Leonardo.Ai) to generate new images from the sketches created during the previous phase, previously defining some conditions based on the FNAC order.

During the last ideation phase, the students responded to the images of the different AIs with new proposals. that combine elements of the first designs with the shapes generated by artificial intelligence.

In this way it was established an interesting dialectic between the creativity of students who are in the process of being art professionals and a tool that increasingly occupies a more preeminent position in the contemporary art scene, leading the transition towards a new technological era.
For the intervention Different materials have been used, mainly dabber and acrylic paint of Prussian Blue, Quinacridone Rose, Turquoise Green, Naphtol Red and Carbon Black colors.
