DORA GARCÍA

Dora García She lives and works in Oslo. She currently teaches at the National Academy of Arts in Oslo, Norway. She represented Spain at the Venice Biennale in 2011 and participated again in the 2013 edition.

She participated in the 56th Venice International Art Exhibition, dOCUMENTA(13), and other international events such as Münster Sculpture Projects in 2007, the Sydney Biennale in 2008, and the São Paulo Biennial in 2010. Her work, primarily performative in nature, addresses themes related to community and individuality in contemporary society, exploring the political potential of marginal positions and paying homage to eccentric figures and antiheroes. These eccentric characters have often been central to her film projects, such as The Joycean Society (2013) and Second Time (2018). In her new film Red Love (2023), she uses the figure of Alexandra Kollontai (1872–1952), the Marxist theorist, Soviet revolutionary, radical feminist, and sexual activist, as a guide to navigate the labyrinth of female freedom, sexual emancipation, and love as a weapon.

NAOMI KAWASE

A filmmaker who continues to create films set in her hometown of Nara, where she was born and raised. Her constant search for "reality" transcends the boundaries between documentary and fiction, earning her numerous awards at film festivals around the world, including the Cannes Film Festival.

Besides Genpin, her most notable works include Suzaku, The Mourning Forest, Still Water, Sweet Bean, Radiance, and True Mothers. While expanding her creative activity globally, she founded the Nara International Film Festival in 2010, actively contributing to the development of the next generation of filmmakers. She has served as General Director of the official film for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Special International Ambassador for Nara Prefecture, and Senior Advisor and Producer of Thematic Projects for Expo Osaka-Kansai 2025. Her work spans various genres, including directing commercials, writing essays, and acting. In her personal life, she has been cultivating rice for over ten years. A new film is expected in 2025.

Held in 2023, it brought together researchers and artists from around the world. The two-day event featured workshops, presentations, video essays, installations, and more. Photographer Joan Fontcuberta and visual artist Camille Henrot participated as plenary speakers.

The 3nd edition of the IEA Congress

The third edition has generated a monograph on Art and Education, which will be published soon in the journal Ciencia y Educación (Science and Education) published by the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology (INTEC). It is indexed in DOAJ, LATINDEX, ERIHPLUS, among others.

In this edition, we will also collaborate with a scientific journal to give participants the opportunity to have an impactful publication linked to the conference.
