George Steane, José Provencio, Alfredo Picazo and Luis Soto, students TAI, squander talent in Cannes

Community talent TAI continues to cross borders, on this occasion, it reaches Cannes to demonstrate the capabilities of four artists. The School has as one of its main objectives to promote the talent of its Community to be able to outsource it to the industry. That is why today we celebrate the arrival of these young artists at one of the most important international film festivals.

George Steane

George Steane, originally from Valladolid (2001), is a last-year student at the Bachelor's Degree in Performing Arts and Screen Acting (In Spanish)  de TAI. The actor arrives at the Official Section of Cannes as part of the cast of the new medium-length film by Pedro Almodóvar, strange way of life with Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal.

"Working with Almodóvar has been lucky, you learn a lot with him and you find a bit of that light, a north to which to direct"

Synopsis of strange way of life

It tells the story of a man riding a horse across the desert that separates him from Bitter Creek. He comes to visit Sheriff Jake. Twenty-five years earlier both the sheriff and Silva, the rancher who rides out to meet him, worked together as gun-for-hire. Silva comes under the pretext of meeting his childhood friend again, and indeed they celebrate their meeting, but the next morning Sheriff Jake tells him that the reason for his trip is not the memory of his old friendship .

Jose Provencio

José Provencio is studying the Master's Degree in Film Direction and TV Series at TAI and his piece, I come to look for you covers the issue of LGTBI leisure, specifically gay saunas. The short film, distributed by Moira Pictures (the distributor of cinema of the University School TAI), will be at Short Film Corner between May 21 and 24 and will be presented at the video library of the Short Film Corner in Cannes, a collection of recently completed short films.

Synopsis of I come to look for you

Six in the morning on a Friday like any other in Madrid. As always, Carlos (20) and Dani (22) have been out all night, in a disco. Alfredo Picazo and Luis Soto

Alfredo Picazo (Córdoba, 2000) and Luis Soto Muñoz (Córdoba, 2000) are the directors of the docu-fiction feature film The remains of passing, a production by Mubox Studio in co-production with Du Cardelin Studio. Both artists are former students of the Degree in Cinematography: script and direction, of the class of 2022.

This 2023, Spain is the guest country at the Marché du Film at the Cannes Film Festival held from May 18 to 23. At Cannes Docs, 18 feature films have been selected, four of them Spanish, which will compete for awards that will help films complete their production so that they can start their festival circuit.

Synopsis the remains of passing

A docu-fiction that narrates the memories that appear in Antonio in the last days of his life, recalls a Holy Week of his childhood, in the town of Baena (Córdoba). Seven days that made him the man he is, and the crying child to be again. A letter from an adult mind, in memory of the past.

Congratulations to all!
