FANXE, former student of the Diploma in Musical Creation and Production, launches his first album BARROKO

After finishing his degree as a nurse and practicing the profession, the author of BARROKO He began to sing with various music groups because he felt that this was the way he best expressed himself. By singing with groups, among which the Melocottons stand out, he grew interested in composing music similar to the styles that inspired him: electronic pop, urban, house or vapowave, genres that were far removed from what he used to sing but that were that he really liked.

This interest led F. Javier to look for a good training in production, so he enrolled in the Diploma in Creation and Musical Production de TAI. The artist tells how at the School he entered a more varied musical context, made friends, contacts and learned to use digital tools that helped improve his composition.

Thus, little by little, his musical personality and his artistic name emerged: FANXE. She began to produce music in collaboration with one of her friends: Paula Mateo, also a former student of the School TAI. After finishing his training at the School, he decided to compose his first work and thus an album emerged together with another classmate from the Diploma, Daniel Norbert.

The process of writing and producing BARROKO

Why this record? Because BARROKO?

I wanted to release a first piece of music that could carry more weight than a single and more global significance. I felt more confident releasing a group of songs that the listener could choose which one they wanted to listen to and offer a variety of styles. In addition, I considered that it was more likely to have an impact on the public and it generated more security for me as an artist.

BARROKO It has emerged from honesty and from the intention of generating movement. I chose its name as a metaphor for baroque art, characterized by an aesthetic that is over-the-top and highly detailed. In my opinion, the album has many layers of sounds and a variety of details that generate a "recharged" sensation in most of the songs, which translates into a lot of sound information in a short time.

How was the creative process to compose this album?

The process has been an "emotional salad", honestly. Creating a first project from 0 by yourself with your producer by your side, without really knowing when we could finish it, changing songs that no longer represented me in the middle of the cycle, has been crazy.

Maybe I could have started with an EP, where I could have put together a concept with several tracks, and it wouldn't have taken so long. In the end, a whole year working on the project, sometimes blinds you and makes you not see the end. There are days when you wake up and you love the songs, and others when you can't stop obsessing over a specific element that you don't like, but you don't know how to improve or replace it either.

I've been very happy creating the album, seeing how the songs evolve, comparing the initial demo with the master… these are very intense emotions. It has also brought fatigue, perseverance and leaving other aspects of my life aside, but hey, maybe that is forgotten long before the positive.

What do you expect from this album?

I don't expect anything too specific either. My goal has always been to satisfy my creative need and have fun within the complexity of the process. I think I also see it as a presentation of my artistic character and I hope, over the years, to see it as a summary of emotions and thoughts that I had at a specific moment in my life.

When time passes and I look back, I imagine I will laugh at the things I created in the past and fondly appreciate my choices.

What is your favorite song or that means the most to you?

I admit that I like them all at almost the same level, since I have a special affection for knowing how they were created and the difficulties that each one has had to reach their current sound. But I don't know why the one I've listened to the most after the album came out has been With 5 bullets, I feel that it transmits a lot of activity and gives me a rush.

Perhaps in terms of meaning, the most special could be BARROKO, since basically the lyrics metaphorically disarm the recipe that I have followed to compose and cope with these months of creating the album.

Professional expectations of Fanxe

How do you feel now that you have released your first album?

In general very happy. I feel more mature and more confident artistically speaking. I can proudly answer that I am an artist, that I create music and show it to people with facts. I lacked material with which to support myself and I think that the album has been a good safety shot for myself.

What are the next steps in your career?

I would like to try to move the show with which we are taking the stage to Barroko. Last Sunday, November 27. four dancers and I presented the album live in a show led by dance and movement, but I would like to be able to show it a little more.

I also want to play new music, although I still haven't defined well what styles to play or how to organize it. I think I need some inspiration and mental rest time before getting to the next project.
