About Dreams and bread
The film Dreams and bread resurrects a legendary subgenre: quinqui cinema. Through the story of the protagonists Dani and Javi, this film explores themes such as uncertainty of young generations who do not find their place in this new stage and the real problems those they face to get ahead. Set in the surroundings of Madrid, Dreams and bread is a ode to escapism, to young people trapped in an urban center that does not allow them to develop or find their way.
The filming and production team of this film, which has already been released on the big screen and has received several international awards, is mostly made up of artists trained in TAI.
George Steane, actor of strange way of life by Pedro Almodóvar and Xavier de Luis, director, actor and producer of the Paroxa theater company give life to the protagonists Dani and Javi. ThisTwo characters, with very different energy and personalities, find the perfect balance, forming an inseparable friendship that fights to live and achieve their dreams.
Synopsis
Javi and Dani steal a painting. Suspecting its considerable value, they launch a plan to sell the work. Plan that falls apart with every step they take. Both take a Sanchopancesque path, forcing sales attempts from the outskirts to the most high-end galleries in the city. The two travel through the city as their luck diminishes, appeasing the moral judgment that the act they have committed entails. task.
'It's a story of transit,
perhaps nowhere, which collaterally represents the
journey of those of us who made it, we wrote it when we were 19 and
we finished with 23' (Luis 'Soto' Muñoz).
Exclusive preview in TAI
FOR TAI It is a pride to see how artists who have trained in our classrooms shine in projects like Dreams and Bread. This successful work that has reached the big screen is a clear example of the talent and passion of our students.
To celebrate the theatrical release of this feature film that was born in TAI, we organize a exclusive event for our community in which we project the film and enjoy a colloquium and a party with the director and the protagonists of this feature film.
'The university stage is the ideal place for this type of projects to germinate' Luis (Soto) Muñoz, director of this feature film.
Luis (Soto) Muñoz, George Steane, Javier de Luís, Joaquín García-Riestra (director of photography) and Paola Travieso (art and costume director), attended the event to share with all attendees their vision and experience with Dreams and Bread. The artists emphasize the evolution of the story and characters during the almost 4 years of filming and editing this film, addressing all the difficulties encountered along the way.
'It was very nice that the process was so long because something that appears in the film is our evolution throughout this time' Javier de Luís, main actor in Dreams and Bread.
'Returning to that youthful energy and freshness seen in the first part was complicated and Soto did a great job adapting our beings to the characters in the story' , George Steane, star of Dreams and Bread.
