Generative art with artificial intelligence (AI): exploring a new creative era

June 16, 2025

In recent years, something incredible has been happening in the art world. La Artificial Intelligence (AI), with tools like DALL·E, MidJourney, Stable Diffusion and many more, has become an ally of creators.

It doesn't replace artists, but rather broadens their horizons, allowing them to realize ideas that previously existed only in their imaginations.

What is generative art really?

Generative art is based on the collaboration between humans and machines. Using algorithms trained on thousands of images, sounds, or data, AI generates pieces that combine styles, colors, and shapes in ways that are impossible to predict.

Imagine telling a program: “Create a sky full of space destroyers in the middle of battle”, and in seconds, you have several versions on your screen.

It's like having a helper who never gets tired or runs out of ideas.

The impact on the creative industry

Generative art isn't just found in digital galleries; it's also found its way into advertising, graphic design, and entertainment.

Major brands use it to create incredibly impactful campaigns, while animation and video game studios integrate it to quickly generate environments and concepts.

A striking example is how these tools have been used to design entire cities in film projects, reducing months of work to weeks.

The ethical debate: art or algorithm?

However, not everything is that simple. Many artists feel threatened, and for good reason.

Some AI algorithms are trained on existing works, sometimes without the consent of their original creators.

This raises awkward questions: Is it fair or unfair? Who owns the final work?

Furthermore, there is a fear that these technologies will reduce the value of human work.

Beyond fear, towards new possibilities

Despite the controversies, generative art opens up a world full of possibilities.

Artists can focus on larger concepts while letting AI handle the technical details.

The interesting thing is that human creativity remains the driving force: AI doesn't create on its own; it needs our ideas, emotions, and narratives.

The future of art It won't be solely human or solely digital. It will be a blend of both, a bridge between our imagination and the power of machines.
