April 17
Tai Lanza Limbo

The third edition of the Artistic Residencies TAI LANZA, one of the programs of ecosystem to support entrepreneurship TAI, As every year, it has selected five projects submitted by artists from the Community TAI, mostly alumni, from among more than 60 proposals and with representation from all artistic areas of TAI.

The works selected in this edition are characterized by a sensitive and committed approach and vision to different social realities as well as to the reconsideration of the self as an identity space, while positioning their creative risk from a wide diversity of artistic devices connected with contemporary methodologies and spatialities.

In the coming months, the artists responsible for these five projects will be able to enjoy an intensive residency period with the support and help of mentors, spaces, resources and materials from the University School of Arts TAI, to help them take a qualitative leap in the development of their work.

Once upon a time there was a forest - Vanessa Alicel, Paulette Fabres and Mauri Concha / Documentary theater

Tai Lanza Once upon a time

A documentary play that It proposes a sensory and reflective space that invites the public to look towards their own origin, recognize themselves in the stories of others and question the fragility and beauty of the environments we inhabit.

The play brings together three actors from different parts of Chile, who share personal stories exploring origins, identity, and migration. Through testimonies, documentary footage, and theatrical and audiovisual resources, the work constructs a collective biographical landscape that reflects on the relationship between human roots and those of the natural environment. By connecting personal stories with collective imaginaries, this staging becomes an invitation to take care of our roots —human and natural— and to recognize the value of that which sustains us, even if it sometimes remains invisible.

The project stars and is developed in its dramaturgy by Vanessa Alicel, Paulette Fabres and Mauri Concha, alumni TAI from the Master's Degree in Audiovisual Interpretation.

WELCOME1DX - Olatz Díaz Carriet / Fashion collection

Tai Lanza Bienve

For the first time, the Artistic Residencies TAI LANZA hosts a cutting-edge fashion design project: Welcome1dx, the new collection from Cxrriet, the original brand of the artist Olatz Díaz Carriet, inspired by the emotional ups and downs that everyone experiences. Things no one sees: the smile you put on to avoid worrying anyone when things get complicated; the longing for all the bad things to stop and for something in life to go right; the fear of failing, feeling small, shutting yourself away at home to avoid having to keep up appearances in social situations... but also, those moments, actions, or people that bring a smile to your face, that give you a moment of calm, peace, and feeling good about yourself.

What is it that nobody sees?

The artist Olatz Díaz Carriet is an alumni TAI of the Diploma in Clothing and Fashion Design.

INCORRECT - Carolina de Souza / Musical work

Tai Incorrect Spear

INCORRECTA is a musical and stage project that arises from the exploration of identity, vulnerability and contradiction as a creative territory.

Through an EP of original songs, the project proposes an intimate universe where the poetic, the emotional and the performative coexist, addressing themes such as love, motherhood, the wound, self-image and the need to belong.

The residence of this project in TAI LANZA is conceived as a development space to translate this musical material into its own stage language, where voice, body and presence build a coherent and vibrant experience.

INCORRECTA does not seek closed answers, but rather to open questions from the sensitive, the imperfect, and the human.

The INcORRECTA project is starring and developed by the musical artist Carolina de Souza, an alumna TAI of the Diploma in Musical Creation and Production.

Interference - Juan Carlos Soto / Feature-length creative documentary

Tai Lanza Interference

Interference It is a non-fiction feature film that tells the story of a movie that no longer exists, as filming was scheduled to begin on September 11, 1973, the day of the coup in Chile. That film was based on a real crime that was never solved: the murder of a painter who accidentally discovered the sabotage of a radio frequency antenna, an attack carried out by a CIA agent. Thus, the documentary exposes the facts of the crime and the lost scenes of the lost film to unveil a story that was never told, while the witnesses refuse to remember, overwhelmed by the pain of what they experienced.

The draft Interference It is characterized by the hybridization of materials and narrative devices where the experimental essay, the documentary story, and various fictional apparatuses rub against each other and interconnect.

The project, developed since 2021, is written and directed by filmmaker Juan Carlos Soto, a student TAI from the Master's Degree in Film and Series Direction.

LIMBO - Camila Restrepo and María Victoria Ulloa - Installation and curatorial project

LIMBO is an artistic and publishing project comprised of a group exhibition and a magazine that explore the state of suspension and indefiniteness of the current generation. Starting with a question posed by T.S. Eliot, it reflects on body, identity, and boundaries in a repetitive and unanchored present. The works present bodies that no longer resist, but rather accept the violence of the present, inhabiting an “eternal now.”

The exhibition brings together pieces about waiting, collapse and emotional emptiness, while the magazine functions as a living archive that expands these ideas through different artistic formats.

The LIMBO project is part of OJONA editorial, a collective founded by artists and curators Camila Restrepo and María Victoria Ulloa (alumni TAI from the Degree in Photography and Audiovisual Creation). Likewise, most of the artists who will exhibit their work in the final exhibition are current students and alumni of the Degrees in Photography and Fine Arts of TAI.
